The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory

I was asked if I would read the Red Queen after being somewhat iffy in my opinion of The White Queen (the first in the Cousin's War series). I did get it. I did read it. And I did like it a whole lot better than the first book. This book features Margaret Beaufort, Mother of Henry VII (grandmother of Henry VIII). She is a fantastic character and I believe that Gregory wrote her very well. She is who she is. A devout Catholic. A devout Lancaster. A devout mother. She's ambitious for her son, cunning, and very smart. I really enjoyed this one.

I started this last night, I am glad to hear you liked it. I didn't mind the White Queen although factually I think it was mostly fluff. Some of her other new stuff it awful, do not bother with "Fallen Skies", it was seriously terrible.

Good to know... although, I am not convinced to spend any hard earned cash on it and I am pretty sure the university library won't have it... I think I am don't with Gregory as a writer... she is unimpressive, confusing in her style and just plain boring. She has great material to write about and just doesn't make good use of it. Her one redeeming quality and that she can create good characters... she just doesn't know what to do with them!
