How to be a Canadian by Ian and Will Ferguson

The funniest book I can recall reading. Ever. Seriously. I laughed out loud in Indigo while previewing the introduction. And I giggled and nodded my head right until the end. I don't know if non-Canadians will get this book, but I sure found it funny. (or should I say it was some good - see my Maritimespeak in there?)

Second Glance by Jodi Picoult

First of all, I wasn't sure if I was going to read this book, or, if I did if I would allow myself to get past the whole hauntings idea behind it and just enjoy the story. I did read read it. I didn't really like the hauntings idea, but I did enjoy the murder mystery aspect of the book. I also liked the way she tied everyone and everything together at the end. At first they just seemed like random characters. Not my favorite Picoult, but not bad.

Why I Hate Canadians by Will Ferguson

I really enjoyed this book. If you think the title is funny and you are Canadian, chances are you will enjoy this book too.

Catching Up

I know I got caught up in the business surrounding Christmas and forgot to post my books. Oops! So here's what I read in the past month, or at least what I can remember of what I read in the past month.

More Jodi Picoult: The Pact - reading this is like watching a train wreck, you know what's coming, it's horrible so you look away but then you can't help but looking. And of course very well written.
The 10th Circle - not what I expected, but good all the same
Picture Perfect - I really enjoyed this one

Revisiting an old favorite: The Werner Family Saga books by Belva Plain - very 80's typical, riviting saga fiction. I absolutely enjoy these books and have read them more than once. In order they are: Evergreen, The Golden Cup, Tapesty and Harvest. They span the years from the late 1800's to the 1980's.

Stuffed, the adventures of a restaurant family by Patricia Volk - A wonderful memoir that sat on our shelves for a couple of years before reading...I find this happens a lot. We buy a book that looks interesting and then forget about it until I have nothing to read. I loved this book. What an interesting family to read about!
